Oh hey, fancy seeing you here...

I'm Laura! I am a recent Photography graduate from Edinburgh Napier University and the Co-Founder of Point of You Magazine. I am currently based in Glasgow, Scotland.

I am an enthusiastic and innovative creative, who has a passion for craft. Alongside my love for photography, I also have a strong interest in graphic design and illustration, which can be seen throughout my work.  I strongly value the importance of spreading kindness and positivity, as well as creating memorable projects which address contemporary issues in a positive manner.

I enjoy taking daily snapshots with my 35mm film camera and producing branding design for local businesses, although, my passion lies within fashion photography and publication design. Additionally, I enjoy uplifting others and community building through creating platforms and offering a helping hand. I have recently curated the publication 'HerStory' which features a wide range of female creatives in the hope to promote their work and create a community. This is something I hope to continue with throughout my career, in various creative roles and passion projects.

When I am not trapped behind my computer screen, I can also be found at my part-time barista job - constantly trying to perfect my latte art (and probably eating too many brownies), at the seaside, or watching way too many romantic comedies!

I was recently highly commended for a Creative Conscience Community Award and I was awarded the Best in Show for the Napier Degree Show. I have been featured in various platforms, such as The Arena and Jorja's Podcast.

Work Experience

Disgraceful Magazine
December 2020 – July 2021
My role as a Social Media Marketing Assistant and Community Manager at the Disgraceful Magazine included creating content that promotes audience interaction and enhance the element of community. It is my duty to increase the magazines presence online, to encourage audience participation and to enhance their interest in the magazine. Through sharing uplifting and motivating quotations, recommendations and articles, it is my responsibility to inspire females to strive for more, both in their everyday life and their career, and to aim high. This part-time role has enhanced my skills and confidence with graphic design, using applications, such as InDesign,  Photoshop and Illustrator.

Created by Laura Store
May 2020 - present
A self-initiated online store selling original handcrafted notebooks and prints. The platform has enhanced my attention to detail, interpersonal skills and passion for craft. It is my duty to prioritise the customers by working  in a professional, fast and friendly manner to ensure that they are happy with their order. Building this platform has allowed me to gain skills surrounding business, marketing and advertising on social media. Whilst developing  skills in finance,  by experiencing handling with money and deciding on prices, I have also strengthened my capability of working towards deadlines. By building an online presence, I have learned the importance of self-branding for promoting my business. This platform has allowed me to gain entrepreneur skills.
Good Press
January 2020 - March 2020
During my eight week placement at an independent, voluntary run bookshop and art space in Glasgow, I processed new publications onto the Good Press online stock system and onto the shop floor, posted on the social media channels, handled customer enquiries and was flexible to any other tasks that may have arose. I got the opportunity to work on a personal project using the Risograph print studio within the Good Press. This allowed me to design, print and finish my own publication. This was a new and valuable experience. It was an eye-opening insight into the art and retail industry and an opportunity to get hands on.
Freelancing Brand Design
April 2020 – present
Starting as a freelance brand designer at the start of the pandemic in 2020, I gained various commissions ranging from different small business, including a beauty therapist, a handmade jewellery shop and a home security business. My duty as a brand designer includes collaborating with clients to transform their brand ideas into visual elements which give their business an identity and to promote it. It is my duty to prioritise clients and to fulfil their ideas, in an efficient  and friendly manner, ensuring that they are happy with final visual identity for their business. This role has enhanced my communication and interpersonal skills and further developed my capability to work towards deadlines.

A little more about me...

Founder of HerStory Magazine
2021
The HerStory magazine is a self - initiated project, with the intention of uplifting, showcasing and supporting all of those who identify as female in the creative industries. The idea is to tackle the gender inequality present in the creative industries today.
I curated the artworks of 44 different creative females and presented their work alongside some information about them: who they are, what they do and any advice they have. from this, I discovered my passion for curation and community building.
